Episode 11: About getting sh!t done, with Alex Batdorf

When adults used to ask Alex Batdorf what she wanted to be when she grew up, she’d say: “I’m going to rule the world.” I think she wasn’t wrong... this queen is powerful. Alex is a serial entrepreneur, a business strategy coach, and a sought after speaker who helps women entrepreneurs scale their businesses to $1 million. Why? Because when women have the capacity to build highly successful businesses, the entire economy changes. And that’s the change Alex wants to see in the world. In this episode, About getting sh!t done, Alex and I talk about the importance of showing up to do the work to follow your dreams. Hard work doesn’t mean you can abandon self care, and it’s certainly not without its hardships (Alex shares some real struggles of her own). But when you prioritize making your desires a reality, everyone around you can rise with you. A little glossary of some terms Alex is using in this episode about entrepreneurship:

  • VC: This means venture capital. Can also refer to the individuals or organizations who offer the funding (as in, “VCs”). Venture capital is money invested in a project in which there is a substantial element of risk. If the company takes off, the VCs make a high return. This is typically done for a start-up or expanding business.
  • SEO: Search engine optimization. Achieved through using keywords to allow a website to rise to the top of a search when certain terms are entered in the search box. Companies  and individuals often pay SEO experts to help with this process.
  • E-commerce: Electronic commerce. The buying or selling of products online.
  • Data democratization: Making digital information available and accessible to the average user.
  • Scalable: A scalable business in one that is able to grow while also meeting the company’s needs.
