Develop your presence and you might even make a music video! 🎢πŸŽ₯

So this picture may be a bit blurry, but I'm still so excited about it because it's from the other day when I was directing a music video!! 🎬🎡

I know, say what?!

I actually spent 5 years of my early career primarily as a theatre and film director, but this was totally new for me. So why was I directing a music video? Because of Ashley. (She's the one with her hair up in the lower left-hand corner of the pic).

Ashley’s been my client for over a year. She’s an incredible money coach, and when we first started working together she was gearing up to come out with her first book The 30 Day Money Cleanse. Ashley was so excited to be “getting her ideas out there” but she knew she needed to develop a social media strategy that involved putting herself on video. Plus she was about to be giving speeches and making a lot of media appearances. The problem: she didn't feel comfortable on camera.

Here’s the story in her words:

“Before I started working with Elissa, I really dreaded being on camera. It was probably because of some training at business school and the culture of my corporate jobs, but my presentation style was really wooden and ‘present-y.’ Even just being on video on my own social media was something I shied away from, and if I had a television media appearance I basically wanted to curl up in the fetal position on the floor and wait until it was over.

My book was about to come out though, and I knew I needed to work to share myself more authentically. I wanted my mission - to empower women in their financial lives - to come across really clearly. Since working with Elissa, my presence on camera has totally transformed. I’ve had a plan and been willing to share my personality and my face more on my instagram stories, and my social media has grown a ton. And all of the TV appearances have actually been FUN! Then a few weeks ago, I had the crazy idea to make a parody of a popular song about money. I mentioned it to Elissa and she encouraged me to go for it. So we put together a production plan, and suddenly there I was actually singing and dancing in front of a camera. I could never have imagined I would go from being totally scared to making a music video parody… this has to be just about the farthest you can take this work! But I feel amazing and confident and I can’t wait to share what we made!!”

Now you definitely don’t have to make a music video like Ashley did. But I share this story with you to demonstrate that you CAN. You can make anything your heart desires.

When you’re connected to your joy and your creativity and your passion for the knowledge you have to share, your craziest (amazing) dreams are possible.

I'm publishing this blog the day before we start How To Have Presence on Camera class. In that class, we’re going to focus on doing all the things Ashley did: We’re going to create a plan for your videos (whether they’re for social media, youtube, an online course, or another program), and then we’re going to practice making them. We’re also going to tackle all the nasty nerves and blocks and things that come up that might prevent you from proceeding. Because I truly believe the world wants to hear the wisdom you have to share.

If you want to join us for class here's the info:
