Hi! My name is Elissa, and I’m the founder of Voice Body Connection.

I’ve been teaching voice and movement since 2011. I came to this profession out of my own need - when I was 21 years old, I lost my voice due to overuse and abuse. My vocal stamina was shot, and I had to learn how to rebuild both my speaking and singing abilities.

My own healing led me to study many theatre and singing voice methods, as well as yoga & Ayurveda, meditation, anatomy, somatics, Polyvagal Theory, and speech science. Over the years, I’ve become certified in Hatha Yoga (RYT 200), Fitzmaurice Voicework®, and Body-Mind Centering®, and earned an MFA in Theatre Voice Pedagogy. Across my experience in these various disciplines, there’s been a uniting message: Moving our bodies and making sound are two great privileges of being human. Taking time for embodiment and vocalization practices allows us to experience health, joy, and wholeness.

“I’ve come across some of  these exercises before and do them regularly, almost daily. But, you are the first person I have found that explains why they work!”

"Elissa, I’m glad I discovered your videos! I’ve been conducting training for customer service reps who interact with customers via video - for them facial expressions and vocal quality are of heightened importance, and your videos have been an invaluable source of ideas for training activities. Thanks much!”
